The Greater Manchester safety audit combined quantitative surveys and qualitative narratives to understand how different communities experience public spaces. Using the Safecity platform, the project collected 86 anonymous reports and conducted 5 in-depth interviews with students across the region.

Each report underwent a rigorous two-step manual vetting process by SGBV specialists to ensure accuracy and full anonymization. The findings highlight clear disparities in safety perceptions based on gender, sexuality, and racial identity, alongside persistent barriers to reporting incidents to the police.

By mapping incidents across urban areas and analyzing time-based patterns, the study offers actionable insights to inform safer, more inclusive city planning and institutional responses.
